Don’t have an iPod? Your CD player doesn’t play MP3s? No worries. Follow these simple directions, and you can convert any Jukebox Heart podcast that is 74 minutes or under to a .wav file suitable for burning to a standard CD format. Then you can play Jukebox Heart anywhere you can play CDs.
I prefer to do my mp3/wav editing using the application Audacity. It’s unlimited freeware and downloadable from a variety of locations.
After you’ve downloaded a Jukebox Heart podcast, open the Audacity application, and click on the Project menu, and select Import Audio. Then navigate to the Jukebox Heart mp3 file and click on it. Then click OK on the import audio pop up window. Audacity will then import the mp3 file and you will see the audio signal appear in the application window.
Next, click on the File menu and select Export As WAV. Another window will appear asking you to verify the name of the file and to select the location to save. As a default, Audacity keeps the name of the file, replacing the mp3 extension with wav. By default, it will save the WAV file to the same folder where the mp3 resides.
Next, click Save, and Audacity will automatically covert the file and save it to your disk.
Now that you have a WAV file, simply use your CD burning software to make an Audio CD using the Jukebox Heart WAV file you just created.
If you use iTunes, it’s even easier. After you’ve downloaded the mp3 file, add it to your iTunes library. Then, create a playlist and add the mp3 file to the playlist. Then, with the playlist open, click on the Burn CD button. It does the WAV conversion automatically and burns the CD for you all in one step.
It’s that easy. Enjoy!
